Kyle Joe has landed but he left too.

My Bro came down to visit Ann, myself and the church here in Peru. It was a last second decision but his people made it happen. It was such a good time with the Maryland Christian Atheltic Basketball division B 2011 state champ (good playing boys). He came down for a solid 8 days which we filled with alot of different things including couple b-ball pick up games at the local courts with some peruvian hoopers that actually had some game which caught us off guard but we prevailed most of the time. Good times playing hoops with my "almost the same size" bro who has got game over the years by shooting alot of hoops in the driveway (even in the winter when the ball is frozen) and obessesing over his solid form with his jump shot. I remember being exactly the same, critical over any little flaw i saw or felt and tried to fix it. Its paying off for him, "the white boy has got game". We spent time all three of us cruising around the city having fun together. We went on a short weekend trip for 2 days up to trujillo to spend time with the church and evengelize. We went out for a short time to the plaza Sat. night which was good, but on Sunday night we really had an awesome time. The Plaza was filled with the most people I have ever seen at on time. They were holding a political rally in the plaza and one of the candidates was campaigning with a popular peruvian band. We have Presidential elections coming up in the next few weeks so the candidates are making there last efforts before they head for the polls. So we definatly benefited from this guys Sunday night campaigning because it seemed as though half the city was there. So we set the sketchboard up on the direct opposite side of the rally and began preaching the gospel. Jung Ill one of the missionaries down here started it off with a message and instantly we had a crowd. Jung Ill preached in english and i gave it my best shot at translating and shouthing out the words so that they could reach as far as possible. We continued in the same spot for 2 hours doing sketch boards and talking to people one on one. We also had the "Wilson bracelets",which we are trying to have become a new fad in Trujillo. We must have dished out a few hundred as people were going after them like mad. Ann and Kyle were the official dishers of the "Wilsons". We then got back on the bus and headed the 8 hrs. back south towards lima where we arrived at 8 or so on monday morning. We also got to spend time with the church in lima with services and bible school. We hit up some solid grub also, peruvian chicken, (which kyle was liking but i think he had a enough for awhile) and of course the best america has to offer (which peruvians think) MC D's. Which we were all digging (me and ann have a secret love for the place). We took Kyle to the airport wed. morning, we were definatly sad to see him go, but so glad that he got to come down and be with the fam here in peru. Get to see what is going on down here. and to catch some rays so he could show off his tan when he got home, which he definatly needed. (Balt-morians are a few shades whiter then a q-tip this time of yr.) Ann is doing awesome, she goes with the flow of life where ever she is. She is teaching the korean kids 4 days a weeks, she's got skills teaching even though she doesnt want to hear it cause mabey someone will think she is a "teacher" (which she is) and that just isnt her. But I think there is a possibility in the future of her being a professor/teacher in something, but if you know ann she will change the name to "person who hangs out with people and talks about stuff", not "Teacher", never... She has many ideas allways for different things, and the wife can cook, she has got game with the pans. Its definatly hurting my mobility on the b-ball court but the road to where i am has been delicious.
The church project up in trujillo, which she has been doing moving bit by bit. This week we had a Huge map of the world made.. We found a really cool pic of the world on goolge and went to the place and they printed it out and made a Huge Banner like map where we will identify with pictures and Pins (kyle's idea, not going to steal it, props to Joe) of where are ggwo church's are world-wide. It will be cool. Obiviously not an original idea but a great way for our church members to see what they are apart of. She has been the greatest blessing ever for the team, church's and obviously for me....
Well just wanted to drop a quick line, Thanks for the the support and prayers, and also wednesday's night message (3-23-11) from bmore was off the charts!!!!!! God is so good to us, thank you Jesus...

Plaza de Armas

This weekend was full of activities and a real joy for Me and Ann. We headed up to Trujillo on friday night after spending a day with the team at the local beach in Lima. Fridays are our designated team days, to be together and do different things with the group of missionaris here in Peru. Ann and I are living about 40 minutes away from the church and all the team members with Pastor Lajos and Michelle in the district of San Isidro, close to the center. We are really loving where we are living, its a real blessing from God and you cant get much better then P. Lye and Michelle there a great time. So we met the crew, got picked up by a van packed with people ready for some waves. So after a sweet day of some rays and waves, and solid tuna sami’s, (my specialty, it takes skill with that can opener and putting the correct amount of mayo,) we hopped on the bus for our 8 hour journey up too Trujillo to spend the weekend with the church and get prepped for our big weekend next Saturday. "The Rehab" of the church. Crew chief Ann Mar is all into it, and loves thinking about what we can do next. I am the one that says "That sounds like a phenominal idea, but you got to realize we are working with only a couple bucks, we cant afford to have a projector with a big screen". (That is slightly exagerated, but not far from the truth). This is her "thing", which she means "I get to go shopping." We made the announcement sunday morning about helping out on Saturday with the painting of the church, and the people lit up with excitement about the project. So we will see how it turns out, we will let you know. God has provided some extra money this month in the church to help finance the project, thank you everyone for your prayers and faithfulness in this project. Its going to be great!!!!!!

This Saturday we went out with a group of 7 of us to the main plaza in Trujillo, "Plaza de Armas", for outreach. Saturday and sunday we have church outreach in the evening for a couple hours. The weather in the evening is a cool 70, and is a nice change after the intense heat of the day. The plaza is usually filled with turist’s, musicians, break dancers, vendors, musicians, couples, families, and sometimes preachers. Its the kind of place you can go for a few hours and just be entertained by the beauty of the plaza. You can relax and enjoy the fresh breeze that blows through the plaza from off the Pacific ocean. Sit on a bench and watch the young teens of trujillo break dance and try to mimick what they learned on youtube (the main source of our education these days). It is a great place to be. It seems as though there is always an event in the plaza, especially in the summer months here. From open air classical concerts, to a mini tour de Peru bicycle race around the plaza, if someone has an event they would like to host the plaza is the place to have it. This Saturday night there was a large political rally taking place, and the party wanted EVERYONE to know that they promised change. From the screaming over the mic, to there enormous flags they were waving, they wanted the world to know, they were the answer. So it was quite loud and abnoxious, but it just added to the challenge of what we were set out to do, find someone looking for more then all the activity of the night. Talk with them about christ, and tell them that there is real hope and real change through Christ. Over the year of soul winning in the plaza God has been faithful in leading us to people that are the lost and lonley looking for more then what the plaza and world has to offer. From Anthony who was sitting on a bench in front of the Large statue in Plaza de armas whose first words out of his mouth were "I am looking for God". To Laura who we simple said would you like to come to our house for a church service? she agreed and has not left since. Jesus is the great physician looking for the ones who know they are sick and wounded. We continue to go because we know they are there, the children of God, the poor in spirit and God wants to give them the Kingdom freely. We are the ones that are just proclaiming the news to them, "Come to the wedding feast, you have a seat at the Kings table, come and feast on what is freely yours." Imagine a Saturday night, nothing going on special in your life other then the plaza and someone one says to you "It is yours." "What is mine they could say?" "The Kingdom of God is freely yours, you must just simply believe." Of course you may have to debate, convince, talk and explain but the message is simply this. "You are sick, and the great Physician Jesus Christ has come to visit you, speak with you and to heal you of all your disease’s, let him in and he will Change you!!!!" What a privelage for us in these days, God is seeking and saving!!!! God bless and thank you for your prayers. We got some pics too of the weekend..
